Chisholm Elementary School Addition

This new classroom addition includes a variety of spaces to accommodate the growing student body. The one-story building features a main safe room that holds between 800 and 1,100 people on a daily basis and is designed to meet FEMA P361 guidelines. In addition to providing increased safety for students, the classrooms and circulation area are flexible and accommodate a variety of ages, class sizes, and functions. Even though the new addition doubles as one large safe room, the six individual classrooms are designed to receive daylight while meeting FEMA safety guidelines.

Additionally, increased storage both inside and outside the individual classrooms helps alleviate that ever-present need in the school environment. The versatile circulation area doubles as informal learning spaces, providing students and staff reading nooks and collaboration areas. An outdoor learning area between the existing building and new addition offers teachers and students alike the opportunity to explore a learning environment outside the traditional classroom.

This addition provides further learning space for students to grow while also giving parents peace of mind during inclement weather.
