Donald W. Reynolds Visual Arts Center

Strategically located at the center of an emerging arts district, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art has traditionally acted as the central hub linking a number of popular metro-area fine arts facilities. As one of the city’s cultural icons, it has long been a source of civic pride and continues to receive great public support.

FSB was selected to serve as the Owner’s Representative for a much-anticipated restoration and expansion of the WPA-era facility, one that would utilize forms, materials and motifs that matched the original limestone veneer and green marble wainscoting. During each stage of the project, FSB served as liaison between the museum leaders, designers and contractors, with our team providing quality assurance for design documents, reviewing schedules and change orders, and providing on-site construction administration services. There were multiple challenges with the Owner’s Representative role, given the intricacy of the 105,000 SF project, which incorporated not only museum galleries, but also a theater, café, a three-story atrium, offices, a library, a gift store and a dramatic, illuminated outdoor marquee. As an additional challenge, the museum expansion incorporated restored elements from the original building and was partially rebuilt utilizing the original construction documents.
