Funded by the “Norman Forward” initiative, the two-story, 151,440 SF Young Family Athletic Center is focused on providing Norman residents with an increased quality of life. FSB and their design partners initially held multiple stakeholder workshops and public meetings to determine the scope and size of this future development, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to be heard.

The Athletic Center features eight basketball courts with 12 volleyball courts, which overlay the basketball courts. The regulation-size basketball court overlays two of the courts and runs in the opposite direction. Surrounding the gymnasium are locker rooms, restrooms, team rooms, and an observation deck.

The aquatic portion of the Athletic Center, achieved with design partners Water Technology, Inc. (WTI), features two pools: an eight-lane, 25-yard competition pool with adequate spectator seating and a four-lane, 25-meter pool used as a warm-up pool during swim competitions. A 10,000 SF clinic, concessions, and retail space round out the design.
